About the Role
Responsible for supporting and maintaining the organization’s VoIP infrastructure, including IP-PBXs, call management, voicemail, and IVR systems. The role involves assisting in the migration from legacy telephony to IP-based solutions, monitoring and troubleshooting VoIP traffic, and collaborating with network teams to ensure optimal performance. Key tasks include implementing new VoIP services, integrating systems with LAN/WAN environments, performing telephony audits, supporting hardware/software upgrades, and resolving end-user issues in coordination with the help desk.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and maintain VoIP infrastructure, including IP-PBXs, call management systems, voicemail, and interactive voice response systems.
- Assist in managing and migrating from legacy telephony systems and switch-based technologies to IP-based solutions.
- Monitor and utilize appropriate tools for reporting, routing, and troubleshooting IP telephony traffic on the network.
- Work with systems engineers and architects on operating system, hardware, and software upgrades for telephony platforms.
- Assist in integrating IP telephony systems with enterprise LANs, WANs, wireless LANs, and other Internet-based services.
- Implement and configure new VoIP products or services under guidance from senior engineers.
- Work with the help desk team to resolve trouble tickets and end-user issues related to VoIP hardware and applications.
- Support installation, labeling, and maintenance of network cabling, including MDF and IDF closets.
- Participate in periodic telephony audits to ensure compliance and optimal performance.
- Monitor VoIP traffic capacity and performance, escalating issues to senior engineers as needed.
- Collaborate with network teams to ensure VoIP traffic operates efficiently without impacting data network performance.
Basic Qualifications
- B.E. / B.Tech in IT/Computer Science or master's degree in IT/CS.
- 3+ years of experience in VoIP.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of IP-PBX systems, SIP protocols, call routing, voicemail, and IVR technologies.
- Experience with VoIP monitoring, troubleshooting tools, and traffic analysis.
- Familiarity with integrating voice systems with LAN/WAN and wireless networks.
- Industry certifications such as CCNA Voice, CCNP Collaboration, or equivalent are an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
