About the Role
We are seeking a Data Center Network Engineer (L2) with strong hands-on experience supporting and implementing data center network and security infrastructures. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in Cisco, Juniper, and Arista technologies and experience working with Firewall and Network Architects to deploy and maintain secure, scalable, and high-performing environments.
This role involves day-to-day operations, configuration, troubleshooting, and assisting in the design rollout of data center and hybrid network architectures, including integration with Red Hat OpenShift and virtualized compute platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and support data center network infrastructures under the guidance of Network and Firewall Architects.
- Configure and manage Cisco ACI, NX-OS, Juniper, or Arista switches and routers in production environments.
- Work with Firewall Architects to support firewall and segmentation architectures (Cisco FTD/ASA, Palo Alto, Fortinet) ensuring compliance and zero-trust alignment.
- Support integration of data center networks with Red Hat OpenShift, RHEL virtualization, and VMware ESXi.
- Implement routing and switching protocols including BGP, OSPF, VXLAN, and STP.
- Perform network monitoring, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis using tools such as Wireshark, SolarWinds, or ThousandEyes.
- Participate in change control, configuration updates, and version management following ITIL practices.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and architects during migration, capacity planning, and design review sessions.
- Maintain network documentation, configuration baselines, and performance reports.
- Support automation initiatives using Ansible, Python, or Terraform for configuration consistency and operational efficiency.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in data center network operations and implementation.
- Strong working knowledge of Cisco, Juniper, and/or Arista network platforms.
- Practical understanding of Cisco ACI, VXLAN, and EVPN concepts.
- Familiarity with Red Hat OpenShift, RHEL networking, or virtualized environments (VMware ESXi).
- Basic understanding of firewall operations and network segmentation in collaboration with Firewall Architects.
- Proficiency in routing/switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, STP) and troubleshooting tools.
- Exposure to network automation tools such as Ansible or Terraform.
- Strong documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications such as CCIE, CCNP,CCNP, JNCIA, or Arista ACE Associate.
- Exposure to Cisco ACI, Nexus Dashboard, or Apstra.
- Familiarity with Linux networking and container networking (CNI) concepts.
- Experience in hybrid or cloud-connected data center environments.
