Position summary
As an HR Generalist (1-Year Contract) at Gruve APAC, you will be responsible for a wide range of HR functions supporting our teams in Singapore and Japan, with occasional backup support for Korea HR operations as needed. You will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving HR processes, ensuring compliance across both markets, and contributing to a positive employee experience.
Role and Responsibilities
- HR Operations: Manage day-to-day HR administrative tasks for Singapore and Japan entities, maintain employee records, and oversee the employee lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding across both countries.
- Payroll Management: Collaborate with the finance team and local payroll vendors to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing in Singapore and Japan, including salary adjustments and benefits administration.
- Talent Acquisition: Lead recruitment efforts for Singapore and Japan roles, including job posting, candidate screening, interviewing, and facilitating the hiring process across both markets.
- Employee Relations: Address employee inquiries, mediate conflicts, and promote a positive work environment in both Singapore and Japan offices.
- Performance Management: Assist in developing and implementing performance evaluation processes suitable for both markets.
- Policy and Compliance: Ensure compliance with Singapore (Employment Act, MOM regulations) and Japan (Labor Standards Act) labor laws, and maintain up-to-date HR policies and procedures for both entities.
- Training and Development: Coordinate and sometimes conduct training sessions for employees in both locations.
Basic Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in HR, preferably in a generalist role covering multiple APAC markets
- Good knowledge of Singapore and/or Japan labor laws and HR best practices
- Proficiency in HRIS, ATS and payroll systems
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
Preferred Qualification
- Strong communication skills in English; Japanese proficiency is a strong plus
- Previous experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, preferably in tech or startup
- Prior experience supporting HR functions across Singapore and/or Japan
- Experience with data analysis and HR metrics
- Knowledge of performance management and employee development practices
